Tarpa



Tarpa, also known as Pavri, is a wind instrument in the rural areas of Gujarat and Warli Tribe of Maharashtra.

This instrument is made of dried gourd and blown in turns by men. In construction, the instrument has similarities of Pungi, the snake charmers pipe. It is accompanied with Tarpa Dance, common among the tribes of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Tarpa has various names such as Ghonga, Khongade and Dobru depending on the size.
