Silvassa




Silvassa, situated on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway 8, is the capital city of the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Located on the Daman Ganga River about 25 km from the Arabian Sea, it still retains the traces of Portuguese rule. It is the major economic center of the territory, producing mainly agricultural and produces including rice, pulses and fruit crops. Silvassa is about 180 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Surat.

Major points of attraction include Vanganga Lake and Island Garden (5 km), Tribal Cultural Museum, Mini Zoo and Bal Udyan and Piparia Udyan.

The nearest airport is at Mumbai. Vapi Railway Station, served by the Western Railways, is the nearest railhead (18 km).
