Deepadih




Deepadih is a village situated about 70 km from Ambikapur, in Sarguja District of Chhattisgarh. The place heralds much archeological significance. The excavations done here had unearthed several archeological remnants which date back from 4th century to 12th century.

Historians say that Deepadih was ruled by a Dravidian monarch, named Samni Singh. As per the local people Samni Singh was killed in a battle with his contemporary Tanginath.

There are a few ruined temples and tanks situated just 1.5 km from the village. Several artistic figures of gods and goddess are sculptured on the pillars along with Shaivite emblems of chain, trident and snake.
