Kawardha




Kawardha, the administrative headquarters of Kawardha District, is an isolated town situated at the edge of the Maikal Hill range, 140 km to the north of Raipur. It is of considerable archaeological importance and still possesses the reminders of India's cultural heritage. The population of the town is predominantly tribal.

Places of tourist interest include Kawardha Palace, Bhoremdeo Temples, Saroda Reservoir (12 km), Sahaspur Wildlife Sanctuary (21 km), Mandawa Palace (19 km), Chherka Mahal (20 km).

There are regular buses connecting Kawardha with Bilaspur (124 km) and Raipur. Nearest airport is at Raipur.
