Kanthi Dewal Temple

Kanthi Dewal Temple is located at Ratanpur, about 25 km from Bilaspur, in Chhattisgarh. Situated close to the ancient Shri Mahamaya Devi Mandir, this octagonal shaped shrine is a unique blend of Hindu and Mughal style of architecture. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva, enshrined in the form of a Shivling.

The walls of the temple are decorated by sculptures dating back from 9th to 12th century. Most noteworthy among all these sculptures are the Shaal Bhanjika (a lady feeding a child), Lingodhbhava Shiva and Kalchuri king. Kanthi Dewal Temple was renovated recently by the Department of Archeological Survey of India.

Mahamrityunjaya Panchmukhee Shiv Mandir, situated nearby, is worth visiting.

Bilaspur Junction Railway Station, on the Mumbai-Howrah main line is the nearest railhead.
