Bailadila

Bailadila is a famous mountain range in the southern tip of Chhattisgarh, with top-quality deposits of iron ore. A total of 14 reserves have been found in this range. It got the name from its shape as the mountain peaks resemble the humps of the ox.

The range comprises two towns, Bacheli and Kirandul. The topmost peak, Aakash Nagar, has the most iron ore deposits. The mines can be visited with the permission of NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation). Aakash Nagar can be reached by the 22-km Ghat road from Bacheli, which offers scope for a delightful drive. Another peak, Kailash Nagar, with the deposits of Blue Dust can be reached by traveling 12 km along the Ghat Road from Kirandul. Road transportation is available from Dantewada to these towns.
