Koriya District




Koriya is one of the north-eastern districts of Chhattisgarh, bounded by Madhya Pradesh in the north and west, Bilaspur District in the south and Sarguja District in the east. It covers an area of 5,978 sq km. The district headquarters is at Baikunthpur.

Karma, Saila and Sugga are the community dances, which are celebrated mainly during different festivals and functions. The major festivals are Ganga Dusshera, Charta, Navakhai and Sarhul. Koriya has beautiful natural places. The major tourist destinations are the waterfalls of Amrit Dhara, Ramdaha and Gavar Ghat and the Sanjay National Park.
