Baikunthpur




Baikunthpur is the seat of administration of Koriya District. Since located centrally in the state, it was made the capital of the state by Raja Sheomangal Singh Deo in 1900. Two tanks and a temple constructed by him near the new palace still exist in the town. Other places of tourist interest include Akuri Nala, Gavar Ghat Waterfall (40 km) and Ramdaha Water fall.

Nearest airport is at Raipur. Closest main railhead is Anuppur, which has connections to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Two trains connect Anuppur with the Baikunthpur Road Railway Station.
