Ashoka Pillar




Ashoka Pillar is a historical monument located at Kolhua. This pillar, made of a highly polished single piece of red sandstone, was built by the Emperor Ashoka. It is surmounted by a bell shaped capital over 18 m high. On the top of the pillar, one can see the life-size sculpture of a lion. It marks the last sermon delivered by Buddha at Kolhua.
