Aurangabad, the administrative headquarters of Aurangabad District, is a historic town situated 119 km south-west of Patna, in Bihar. It derives its name after the 17th century Mughal ruler, Aurangazeb.

Gaya, Nalanda, Rohtas and Sher Shah's magnificent mausoleum at Sasaram are the interesting spots in the vicinity.

Nearest airport is at Patna. National Highway 2 passes through Aurangabad.
