Pinddaan at Gaya




Pinddaan is a unique ritual performed for the salvation of the ancestors. Vishnupad Temple at Gaya in Bihar is the hub of the 'pinddaan' rituals.

It can be performed at any time of the year, but people prefer to do it before Navratri, during Pitrapaksha (in September). An estimated quarter of a million pilgrims from the country and abroad, including Bangladesh and Nepal, perform 'pinddaan' here.

Pinddaan is performed throught India by the Hindu Community.
