Asuras are referred as supreme spirits in the oldest part of the Rig Veda
. But later it acquired a negative meaning and came to signify as a demon or enemy of Gods. This type of description is given in the later parts of the Rig Veda and in Atharva Veda
. According to Taittiriya Brahmana, the breath or Ďasuí of Prajapati gave birth of Asuras.
