Bankipore Maidan



Gandhi Maidan, also called the Bankipore Maidan, is a large ground in Patna. The hub of modern Patna, it was used by the East India Company to put up temporary shelters for soldiers. This oval expanse was also a racecourse at one time.

Mahatma Gandhi had held one of his prayer meetings here and hence the name Gandhi Maidan. Ashok Raj Path, the main market area of Patna, starts from Gandhi Maidan. Golghar, a huge storehouse, is located nearby. Today, it is famous as a meeting place for political rallies.
