Sitamarhi




Sitamarhi is the administrative headquarters of Sitamarhi District, in Bihar. It is a major center for agricultural and industrial trade in the district. Sitamarhi is situated 117 km north-east of Patna.

Sitamarhi derives its name after Sita, the heroine of the Ramayana. The Janaki Temple, dedicated to her, is a major point of attraction in the town. Excursions to Darbhanga, Areraj, Motihari, Kanti thermal power station and Raxaul will be an enchanting experience.

Nearest airport is at Patna. National Highway 77 passes through Sitamarhi. By road, Sitamarhi is linked with Motihari, Muzaffarpur, Patna and Sheohar. Sitamarhi Railway Station has connections to Raxaul, Motihari, Darbhanga, Patna and Samastipur.
