Ashvaghosha, a Sanskrit writer, is believed to have lived during the first or second century AD. He was a renowned philosopher, poet and a debater who served at the court of Kanishka. 'Buddhacharita' and 'Soundarananda' are his renowned works. 'Buddhacharita', as its name suggests, depicts the life and times of Buddha. He is believed to have lived in ancient Kashmir Valley.
