Sokk-erroi is an important harvest festival of the
Karbi community. It is usually celebrated in
Karbi Anglong District of
Assam. This festival is observed during the harvest season. The word 'Sokk-erroi' means 'the carrying of the paddy from the field'.
On this festive occasion, various cultural events including folk dances and songs are arranged. Dance programs are organized by the young people. A person is selected as the leader, known as 'lunse’, who provides the leadership in dancing and singing.
