Sualkuchi, also known as the Manchester of
Assam, is a famous silk production center in India. It is on the northern bank of the
Brahmaputra, about 24 km from
Guwahati. Pat, Muga, and Endi are the most popular silk types found in Assam. Traditional Assamese dresses are also produced here.
