Deosal




Deosal is a village located in Morigaon District of Assam. This place is mentioned in the Ramayana, one among the two great epics of the later vedic period. It is believed that Deosal was the ashram of Maharshi Valmiki, where Sita was left by Ram. Deosal is about 4 km from Jagiroad.

Major point of interest here is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Shivaratri mela held at the temple attracts thousands of people. Pabitara Wildlife Sanctuary is nearby.

Deosal is easily accessible as the National Highway 37 cuts through the place. Regular buses connect the village with Jagiroad and Morigaon. The convenient railway station is at Jagiroad.
