Biswanath Chariali




Biswanath Chariali is one of the prominent towns in Sonitpur District of Assam. It is about 75 km east of Tezpur and 255 km from Guwahati.

The town is renowned for its sprawling tea estates. The Monabari, Asia's largest tea estate, is situated here.

Places of tourist interest are Bishwanath Temple, Borola Stone, Bhaluk Gossain Temple, Agriculture College and Pratapgarh (established by Pratap Singha). Naag Sankar, renowned for ancient temples, is about 15 km away.

Biswanath Chariali has a prominent railway station situated on the Balipara- Murkongselek rail route. National Highway 52 passes through this town. Regular buses connect the town with Tezpur, Jamuguri, Rangapara and Balipara.
