Upper Subansiri District



Upper Subansiri District is bounded by West Siang District in the east, Lower Subansiri District in the west, Tibet in the north and West Siang District in the south. The district has a total area of 7,032 sq km, supporting a population of 54,995. About five percent of Upper Subansiri District is covered with forest.

The main languages spoken are Hindi and English. Menga Mandir is an important tourist destination. There is an airport at Daporijo. Silapathar and North Lakhimpur (both in Assam) are the nearest railway stations. The town of Daporijo is headquarters of Upper Subansiri District.
