Lower Subansiri District




Lower Subansiri District is bounded by Upper Subansiri District in the east, East Kameng in the west, Tibet in the north, and Papum Pare District in the south. The area of the district is 10,135 sq km. Approximately 11% of the district is covered with forest. Coal is the major mineral found in the district. Apatani and Nyishing are the main tribes in the district. Hindi and English are also spoken besides the native tongue.

The town of Ziro is the headquarters of the district. The main tourist destinations are Ranganadi Hydro project and Parsiparlo. Nearest railway station is at North Lakhimpur (Assam).
