Gelugpa Sector

Gelugpa Sector also called Dge-lugs-pa is one of the four main sectors of Tibetan Buddhism. This lineage was founded by Tsongkha-pa, the great philosopher saint of Tibet. Gelug literally means 'virtuous ones' and pa denotes 'school'. Gelugpa Sector evolved into a fully independent school of Tibetan Buddhism in the fourteenth century.

Followers of this particular tradition are referred to as 'the yellow hats'.
