Vijayawada Junction Railway Station




Vijayawada Junction Railway Station is one of the busiest railway junctions of South Central Railways. It is on Chennai-Howrah and Chennai-Delhi rail routes. There are direct trains to Delhi, Jammu, Kanyakumari, Howrah, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Goa.

At the station escalators are provided to reduce congestion. Catering facilities are offered. For the ease of travelers, token system is introduced at the reservation complex.

Vijayawada-Gudur, Vijayawada– Guntur–Nallapadu, Vijayawada- Kazipet-Ballarshah and Visakhapatnam–Vijayawada rail routes are electrified.

Close to the railway station is Gandhi Hill where a 52 ft high Gandhi Stupa has been erected. In the immediate vicinity of the station there are several hotels. Going south, the major railhead is Guntur Railway Station (32 km). Towards north, Eluru Railway Station is the important railhead. The nearest airfield is Vijayawada Airport (20 km.).
