Sri Prasanna Venkateswaraswami Temple




Sri Prasanna Venkateswaraswami Temple is an ancient shrine located at Appalayanagunta, about 14 km from Tirupati, in Chittoor District. The temple, built by the Rajas of Karvetinagaram, enshrines Venkateshwara as the presiding deity.

Sri Prasanna Venkateswaraswami Temple also has shrines dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi and Sri Andal and Anjaneya (Hanuman) . The imposing image of Hanuman is worshipped by devotees for relief from chronic diseases.

Legend has it that Sri Venkateswaraswami after marrying Sri Padmavathi Amma, blessed Sri Siddeswara and other sages here.

Brahmotsavam and Teppotsavam, Vaikunta Ekadesi Festival, Ugadi Festival and Diwali are the major festivals celebrated here amid much pomp and splendor.

Sri Prasanna Venkateswaraswami Temple can be easily accessed by bus from Tirupati. Tirupati Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
