Chintala Tiruvengalanathaswami Temple is located at
Tadpatri in
Anantapur District. Main deity of the temple is
Lord Vishnu and is believed have emerged from a tamarind tree.
The temple is built partly of stone and partly of brick. The ceiling of the temple is decorated by beautiful paintings. The stone portion depicts beautiful figures of 'Vidhyadharas', '
Apsaras' and 'Avataras'. The southern and western wall depicts scenes from
Ramayana and
Bhagavata. A stone chariot found in the temple complex is renowned for architectural excellence.
The Rangamandapa of the temple is covered with forty pillars in the Vijayanagar style of architecture. The Narakachaturthi and Brahmotsava are the two famous festivals of the temple and falls in the month of October. A car festival is organized there during September and October.
Tadpatri is a railway station on the
Raichur-Madras line and is 76 km from Guntakal, which is an important junction.
