Sun Temple at Arasavalli




Built by a Kalinga king in the 7th century, Suryanarayanaswamy Temple is dedicated to the Sun God, Padmapani. The 5 ft tall black granite idol is holding lotus buds in both hands and is flanked by his two consorts, Usha and Chhaya. Padma is symbolic of wisdom while Usha and Chhaya represent dawn and dusk respectively. One can approach this ancient temple from Srikakulam.
