Srisailam Dam




Srisailam Dam, constructed across Krishna River, lies in a deep gorge in the Nallamala hill range. Its elevation is about 300 m and is 512 m long. Located in Kurnool District, the dam is one of the twelve largest hydroelectric projects in the country with 12 radial crest gates. Srisailam town is 232 km south of Hyderabad.

Places of interest in the close proximity include Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple on the hill range of Nallamala Forest, Sikhareswara Swamy Temple and Sri Ganapathi temple.

The adjacent railway station is Nandyal on Guntur-Hubli broad gauge line, which is about 158 km.
