Anupu is 8 km from the
Nagarjunasagar Dam in Guntur District. During the construction of Nagarjunasagar Dam, several ruins were discovered and they were reconstructed at Anupu.
Anupu possesses fine examples of ancient Buddhist life. Reconstructed sites include a 3rd century vihara, an amphitheater with acoustics, stupas, monasteries, a university, a sacrificial altar and a stadium.
