Motupalle




Motupalle is a coastal village in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh. Formerly known as Mohanapuram, Motupalle lies about 12 km from Chinaganjam and 45 km from Ongole.

The place flourished during the reign of the Pallavas, Chalukyas and Cholas. A good number of Chinese and Chola coins, apart from a ring wall, were revealed from here during the excavation done in 1970.

The focal point of Motupalle is Motupalle Port. The beach, dotted with casuarinas plantation, add to the beauty of the locale.

Chirala Railway Station, 10 km away, is the nearest railhead. The nearest airport is Hyderabad Airport.
