Mangalagiri

Mangalagiri is an elephant shaped hill, situated on the Vijayawada-Guntur road. It is about 13 km to the southeast of Vijayawada and 21 km to the northeast of Guntur.

Mangalagiri, which means 'the auspicious hill', has the temple of Sri Panakala Narasimhaswamy at its top. It is one of the eight important Mahakshetrams (sacred places) in India. Another temple of Lakshmi Narasimha is seen at the foot of the hill. Hinkar Tirtha, famed to be the largest Jain temple in the region, is located here.

Mangalagiri has a railway station on the Hubli-Masulipatnam line.
