Jerdon's Courser




Jerdon's Courser (Rhinoptilus bitorquatus) is a nocturnal bird found in the scrub jungles around the Godavari and Pennar river valleys in Andhra Pradesh. It is listed among the most `Critically Endangered' birds of the world in the Bird Life International Red Data Book.

Jerdon's Courser is a cursorial bird, which walks more than it flies. The bird prefers to live in scrub forests in the rocky, rolling foothills of southern India.

Jerdon's Courser can be spotted in the Srilanka Malleswara Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh.
