Moula Ali Dargah

Moula Ali Dargah, in the memory of Hazrat Ali, is situated at Hyderabad, in Andhra Pradesh. Hazrat Ali was the son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad. It was built during the period of the Asif Jahis by Ibrahim Shah. One has to climb up to 400 steps to reach the dargah. Thousands of people from far and near visit the dargah.

Legend has it that Yakoob, a eunuch in the court of Ibrahim Quli, found the impression of Hazrat Ali's palm on a stone which he saw in a dream. This impression was later hewed out and installed in a shrine and an arch was built over the spot. A pavilion and a place for beating drums were added during the reign of Qutb Shahi. Ibrahim Shah later built a mosque beside the dargah.
