Katta Maisamma Temple

Katta Maisamma Temple lies on lower Tank Bund road, close to Indira Park, between Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Katta means a bridge on bund across a river or lake and Maisamma denotes a local deity. It has been a practice in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh to build a Katta Maisamma Temple with the intention of getting her blessings for a safe means of access to people, vehicle and goods across the bridge. Bonalu festival is celebrated at Katta Maisamma Temple, during the month of Ashada (July).
