The Kollur Mines are on the
River Krishna, west of Chintapilly, in
Andhra Pradesh. Discovered accidentally in 1560, Kollur was one of the richest diamond mines in the Golconda region. Kollur's fame rests as the source of several legendary diamonds such as the Koh-i-noor, the Hope Diamond, the Great Mughal, the Pitt-Regent and the Kollur.
