Common Moorhen



Common Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus orientalis) is a large bird of about 30 - 35 cm, seen in fresh water lakes and flooded areas. It has dull plumage and white streaks along its flanks. The bird has yellow tipped red bill and a red frontal shield. Its feet are large and yellowish-green.

In India, Common Moorhen can be seen in the Kalesar Wildlife Sanctuary, Haryana.
