Bheemunipatnam




Bheemunipatnam is a small town on the eastern coast of India and is 25 km north-east of Visakhapatnam. It is the second oldest municipality and one of the ancient Dutch settlements of the country. The town was named after Bhim, one of the Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata. There are a number of historical monuments in the town including the remains of a ruined fort and a cemetery built by the Dutch. The cemetery holds pyramidal structured tombs of the Dutch which are around two and a half centuries old. This coastal town holds the Bheemunipatnam Beach and a 19th century church. It also serves as an ideal place for the tourist.

The nearest airport and railway station are at Visakhapatnam.
