Zinnia is an annual flowerbed plant that grows between 6 and 40 inches in height with single and double flowers. It is adaptable to warm climates.
The plant can be grown on variety of soil including moist and well-drained soils. The long stem bears solitary daisy like flowers, and bristly oval shaped leaves. The flowers come in lavender, orange, pink, purple, red, rose, salmon, white, yellow and green. Zinnia is also grown in pots or containers and also as borders. It is perfect for cut flowers, which last up to a week or more.
It is also known as Ommon zinnia and Garden zinnia.
