Zedoary

Zedoary (Latin name, Curcuma zedoaria) is a close relative to turmeric, but has a large sized tuberous rootstock. It grows in tropical and subtropical wet forest regions.

There are two types of Zedoary sold in Indian markets - Curcuma zedoaria and Curcuma zerumbet. It is used fresh or pickled.

Zedoary is used as an aid to digestion, and to relieve flatulence and colic.
