Yoga Vasishtam is an ancient text of yoga. It was compiled by Sage
Valmiki. Sage Vasishta is believed to have taught this yoga to
Lord Ram. It used to be the most widely read book in ancient India. Yoga Vasishtam is also known as Jnana Vasishtham. It is meant for advanced practitioners of
Vedanta Philosophy.
Yoga Vashishtam consists of two separate books, Brihat Yoga Vasishtham, and the Laghu Yoga Vasishtham. While Brihat Yoga Vasishtham has 32000 slokas (64000 lines), the Laghu Yoga Vasishtham has 6000 slokas.
