Wild Yak (Bas grunniens) is large, woolly cattle with massive, long body, small hump on high, short legs and large and heavy drooping head. The color of the coat is a uniform blackish-brown with a little white over the muzzle. Hair is slightly short on neck and back. Long coarse hair (up to 60 cm) forms shaggy fringes, which hang from its flanks, underparts and thigh. Tail is huge brush of long and dense hair.
Head to body length is about 200-325 cm. The animal stands up to 150-205 cm at shoulder. Body weight is approximately 325-600 kg. Ears are quite small. Horns are big, spreading horizontally outward, and curving upward and forward, while the tips are slightly bent backward and inward.
It can be spotted in the Chang Chenmo Valley of Leh District.
