White Pelican (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) is a huge, white bird with black primaries and outer secondaries. It is about 55 to 70 inches in height. The bird is white with a long, flat, bright orange bill and black tipped wings.
During the breeding season, a short, yellowish crest appears on the back of the head and a horny plate appears on the upper mandible. The pelican is sociable, usually travels in flocks and nesting in colonies. Females lay one to six white eggs on a low mound of earth and debris.
