White Hovehound (Marrubium vulgare) is a culinary herb with dull grayish-green leaves and is common on sheep paddocks, roadsides and waste places. It belongs to the family Labiaceae and is also known as Pahari gandana and Hoarhound.
Marrubin (sesquiterpene bitters), marrubiol (essential oil), mucilage and tannins are isolated from this plant. White hovehound is an anthelmintic. It is useful in jaundice, phthisis and hepatitis.
