Wax Tree




Wax Tree is a deciduous tree found throughout the Himalayas. It prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. The plant is very sensitive to sunlight.

The fruits are eaten fresh and contain ellagic acid. The fruit and seed are considered as an antidote. It is used as a drug against abdominal tumor, dysentery and phthisis.

It is also known as Kakda singi and Karkashringi.
