Wardha River, also known as Vasishtha, is a chief river of Yavatmal District
that originates from the east of Multai
in Madhya Pradesh
. The river is believed to have created by the saint, Vasishtha. It is the only partly navigable river of the district, which flows in a south-east direction along the north-eastern boundary of the district.
The main tributaries of the Wardha River with in the district are Bembla and the Nirguda. The Penganga River is another major tributary of the river which unites with the Wardha at its south-eastern extreme.
There is a pond very near to the river called Pundlik Kund, which is believed to be the kund where the idol of Lord Vitthal has been found by Saint Sadaram.
