Located on the Indo-Pakistan border, Wagah is 28 km from
Amritsar in
Punjab. Wagah is the only point of entry on the border between the two countries.
Wagah is the site of an evening flag-lowering ceremony that marks the closing of the gate between the two countries until it reopens the next morning. The event has become so popular that India and Pakistan have built stadiums to seat the masses.
The border is open between 10:00 and 16:00 hrs.
Buses ply from Amritsar to Atari, from where auto-rickshaws are available to Wagah (2 km).
