Vizhinjam Beach




Vizhinjam beach is 2 km away from Kovalam. Ruins of rock-cut temples are the main attraction of Vizhinjam beach. The cave temple consists of half completed carvings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It was once a commercial center for the Europeans, Portuguese and the Dutch.

The other attractions of the area are the fishing boats and the incessant sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. There are hotels on the beach serving sea food and other delicacies.

Trivandrum International Airport is 12 km from the beach and the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is 18 km away.
