Vishnukrantha (Latin name, Evolvulus alsinoides) is a hairy perennial herb, which grows in tropical and subtropical regions. In India, it is a common wild plant in open and grassy places, up to an altitude of 6,000 ft. The plant has spreading wiry branches arising from a small woody rootstock.
It is recognized as bitter tonic, febrifuge, anthelmintic, and anti-phlogistic. It is also used with hair oil for promoting growth of hair. Vishnugrandi, Shyamakuranta and Sankhapuspi are its local names.
