Vili

Vili is an age group system among the Medukembin and Raverin status groups of Lakshadweep. A Vili needs at least eight members and these members meet in a private house known as the Vilivanage. Each Vili has a leader called bodudata or bodukaka. The name of the female vili is Nuge Boduvili. Each female vili is associated with at least one male vili. During special occasions, the male vili presents gifts, bananas and betel to the female vili and dances for them. In response the female vili organizes a vili party for the male.
