Vikram Seth is a renowned novelist as well as a poet born in
Kolkata in 1952. He completed his primary education in India. Later he earned a PPE degree from the Oxford University, England. He then joined Stanford University to receive a PhD in Economics.
While in Nanjing University, Seth mastered classical Chinese poetry and several other languages. His popular works include 'Mappings', 'From Heaven Lake', 'All You Who Sleep Tonight', and 'Beastly Tales'. In addition, Seth was commissioned by the English National Opera to serve as a librettist to compose the opera based on the Greek legend of Arion and the Dolphin. His literary contributions won him the Commonwealth Writers' Prize.
