Vidyapati Raas

Vidyapati Raas is an indigenous folk ballad of Bihar. These songs are derived from the compositions of Vidyapati, a renowned poet of medieval period. These compositions are written in an old language known as Maithili, which is similar to Bengali. They are dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Durga. The songs relating to Lord Krishna mostly dwell on the love between him and his beloved Radha.
